Benny Dean Carter was born December 5, 1946, in Conroe, Texas, to Billie Dean and Flossie Carter. He entered into Heaven’s gates on March 19, 2026, at the age of 79 in Jasper, Texas.
A true cowboy at heart, he was rarely seen without his signature cowboy hat, boots, and belt buckle – symbols of a lifestyle he embraced fully and authentically. He carried himself with strength, grit, and a quiet pride that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In 1968, he answered the call to serve his country voluntarily enlisting in the United States Army. He served honorably as a military policeman, demonstrating courage, discipline, and a deep sense of duty.
He was known for his quick wit and was the undisputed king of corny dad jokes, always ready with a one-liner that could make you laugh – whether you wanted to or not. His humor brought light to those around him and is a memory that will be cherished forever.
Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend and his legacy lives on through the love he gave, the values he instilled, and the memories he created with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Ben is survived by his four children, Cara Carter Folsom and her husband Travis, Christina Carter Labit and her husband Eric, Candy Carter Statum, and Reagan Carter and his wife Crystal. He was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three siblings, Don Carter and wife Pam, Kay Carter Stringer and husband Joe, and Ann Carter. Left to cherish his memory is also his best friend and constant companion Faustine Land.
The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice, especially his nurse Kari, CNA Andrea, and Pastor Dirk. Their love, care, and compassion were such a blessing. In lieu of flowers, Ben asked that donations be made to Wounded Warriors, Shriners, or St. Jude’s.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Jasper County Cowboy Church in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with the service following at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Jasper County Cowboy Church Cemetery. Condolences can be posted at www.shultzfuneralhomeofjasper.com, on Facebook at Shultz Funeral Home & Crematory, or on Instagram at Shultzfh.
