Dal “Daddy Dal” Coleman, 90, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Jasper. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Dal was born on May 11, 1932 in Caldwell, Texas to Earl and Miladie Coleman. He grew up in Huntsville and enlisted with the United States Army, where he served for two years. In 1963, Dal moved to Jasper and began a legacy that many remember to this day. He served Jasper Independent School District for 54 years. He was a coach, teacher, assistant principal, Jasper Middle School Principal, and Jasper High School Principal. After retiring as Jasper High School Principal, he returned to the district as a Truant Officer. Dal made lasting friendships during his time at Jasper ISD and was well respected for his work and dedication. He was also very proud of his yard; he spent lots of time on his zero-turn lawnmower making sure that his yard always looked its best. Dal loved his family. He loved time spent with them, especially when they could spend time at the beach house.
He leaves behind a family that knew they were loved by him, unconditionally. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Maureen Coleman of Jasper; son Chris Coleman &wife Debbie of Jasper; daughters Cathy Slaydon &husband Bobby of Midlothian and Stephanie Stephen &husband Alan of Leander; brother Kenneth Coleman &wife Bea of Huntsville; grandchildren Sunny Stephens &husband Eric, Lindsay Stuebe &husband Jason, Blake Coleman &wife Lori, Jacob Coleman, Alex Coleman &wife Elise, Mackenzie Barger, John Michael Barger, and Sean Barger; as well as great grandchildren Caden Stuebe, Emma Coleman, Addison Stuebe, Riley Coleman, and Ellie Stephens. He is preceded in death by his brothers Doyle Ray Coleman and Howell Dean Coleman.
