Elmer Lee Gilley

Elmer Gilley, 83, of Jasper passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home with interment to follow at Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

Elmer was born on May 8, 1940 to Thomas &Ruby Gilley in Kirbyville, Texas. He was born and raised in Kirbyville and lived in Hardin County for several years prior to moving to Jasper. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and classic country music. He is survived by his sons Thomas Gilley of Jasper and Hershel Gilley &wife Elizabeth of Texarkana, Arkansas; brothers John Gilley &wife Wanda of Jasper, Marvin Gilley of Kirbyville, and Everett Gilley of Kirbyville; sisters Annie Mae Ferguson of Center and Marie Yvonne Dolberg of Kirbyville; as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas &Ruby Gilley, wife Betty Jo Gilley, son Neal Gilley, brother Tommy Ray Gilley, and sister Nancy Pratt.
