Eric Steven Sparks

July 23, 1980 — March 12, 2026

Denham Springs, Louisiana

Eric Steven Sparks, 45, was born July 23, 1980, in Nacogdoches, TX to Terry Odell and Susan Rhymes Sparks. He fell asleep in death on March 12, 2026, in West Baton Rouge Parish, LA, leaving behind a lifetime of memories with the people who loved and cherished him most. Eric resided in Denham Springs, LA at the time of his death.

Eric grew up in Silsbee, TX after he and his parents moved from Nacogdoches, TX in August of 1980. In November of 1981, he was joined by his younger brother and partner in crime, Brian. His two sisters, Shelley and Hannah, followed in 1984 and 1987. Eric spent his childhood years in Silsbee running around and getting into all kinds of mischief with his three siblings and his uncle Leland, who at three years younger was more like a brother. Many afternoons were spent out in the woods near Village Creek and riding bikes down Baby Galvez Road.

Eric was known for his agreeable personality. He held the special quality of mildness that defines a Sparks man, much like his father and grandad. He had a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor that put others at ease. Though he spoke gently, Eric’s kindness spoke volumes.

Eric, a talented guitar player, had a deep love for music and enjoyed sharing that love with others. He also found contentment in fishing, cooking on the grill, and tinkering with different things. He was a highly skilled diesel mechanic and crane technician who worked very hard to provide for his family. Above all else, Eric loved his children and found immense joy and pride in fatherhood.

Eric is survived by his six beloved children, William Steven Sparks, of Vidor, TX; Sage Elaine Sparks, of Columbus, TX; and Devin, Brandon, Adaline, and Camden Sparks, of Yakima, WA. His spouse, Brittani Sparks, also survives. Eric is deeply mourned by his father and mother, Terry and Susan Sparks, of Jasper, TX; his siblings, Brian Sparks, of Silsbee, TX; Shelley Finley and her husband, Chris, of Beaumont, TX; and Hannah Haley and her husband, Cory, of Lufkin, TX; his grandfather Littlejohn “Jack” Rhymes and his wife, Ella, of Jasper, TX; his uncles, Lewis Rhymes of Silsbee, TX; and Leland Rhymes and his wife, Miriam, of Jasper, TX; his niece, Lorelai Haley; his nephews, Wesley and Kieran Sparks; and Seth and Deaglan Haley; and many other extended family members and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Sadie Sparks and Ina Sue Rhymes.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, with Chris Finley officiating.

Eric will be deeply missed, but also remembered for his kind nature, his lively spirit, and the love he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” - Revelation 21:3,4
