Gene was born on October 30, 1942 in Orange, Texas to Eugene Ratcliff Sr. & Hattie Wrinkle Ratcliff. A longtime resident of Jasper, he worked as a small engine mechanic for East Texas Truck & Mill Supply. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a proud veteran. He looked forward every day to working and completing the daily crossword puzzle, exclusively from the Beaumont Enterprise, drinking a good cup of coffee, and scratching off a lottery ticket. Although he enjoyed his time with hobbies, his passion was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the sparkle in his eyes.
He is survived by his son Toby Ratcliff & wife Laurie of Jasper; Melinda Cathey & husband Skeeter of Jasper; Melody Bryer & husband Buddy of Jasper; brother James Ratcliff of Olympia, Washington; grandchildren Stephen Brady & wife Rachel, Joseph Clark, Dillon Bryer & wife Kassandra, Gracelyn Gyger, Julie Pitre & husband Keyth, and BreeAnn Cox & husband Tanner; great grandchildren Kane, Luke, Maci, Christian, Landon, Nathan, Copeland, Breeland, Cali, Callum, Layton, Ashtynn, Brooklyn, and Hudson.
