Greg Pecaaut, 64, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Greg was born on August 17, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert and Janice Pecaut. A resident of Phoenix, Arizona, he had lived in Jasper for the past 7 years. He served in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger and was known to be somewhat of a daredevil. He loved sailing, scuba-diving, gunsmithing, and jumping out of airplanes. He also loved studying and learning, earning degrees in Astronomy, Oceanography, and Business. He also loved history, especially the Civil War, where he was a enjoyed reenacting scenes from the war. He worked and retired as a truck driver for John Fayard Moving & Warehouse.
He is survived by his wife Jeannie Crawford of Jasper; mother Janice Pecaut of Bradenton, Florida; step-daughters Kathryn Alvarez of Jasper and Melita Hayes & Jason Hayes of Jasper; as well as a brother Mark Pecaut of South Beach, Florida. A private Celebration of Life will be held with family and close friends.
