James “Jim” Dickerson Sr., 78, of Jasper passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Shultz Funeral Home of Jasper with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in the Holly Springs Community. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Jim was born on October 10, 1944 in Jasper to Jesse “Dick” &Kathryn “Kitty” Dickerson. A long-time resident of Jasper, he was a store manager for Due’s Minimax for many years, he also worked as a linesman electrician for Gulf States Utilities, and he retired from P.D.G. Environmental Company as a superintendent. Jim loved the outdoors. He loved his Kubota tractor, horses, and deer hunting. Most of all he loved his family. He married the love of his life of 56 years, Glenda Sue Due Dickerson on November 19, 1964 in Rockport, Texas. He enjoyed being a husband, Daddy, and Pappaw. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. He is survived by his children Sandy Bumstead of Jasper, Rebel Hood &husband Patrick of Jasper, and son James “Jamie” Dickerson Jr. &wife Melaney of Jasper; a life-long brother John Mancil &wife Carolyn of Jasper; brother Jesse Dickerson &wife Joyce of Jasper; sister Fern Baggett of Hockley, Texas; grandchildren W.J. Rogers of San Antonio, Texas, Sterling Hood &wife Rachel of Fredricksburg, Texas, Lauren Brosin &husband Austin of Little Elm, Texas, Kayle Dickerson of Troy, Texas, Chelsea Bumstead of Whitehouse, Texas, and Shelby Dickerson of Huntsville, Texas; great grandchildren Owen Hood, and coming soon are Baby Brosin and Baby Hood. He is preceded in death by his wife Glenda Sue Due Dickerson and his parents Jesse “Dick” &Kathryn “Kitty” Dickerson, sister Ruby Harrison and brother Ronnie Dickerson.
