Jo Merka

Jo Merka, 86, of Jasper passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021in Center, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021at 3:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

A native of Groveton, Jo was born on January 20, 1935 to Clyde &Mollie Scarborough. Jo was a resident of Houston prior to moving to Jasper in July 1988. She was a member of Peachtree Baptist Church and was an Assistant County Auditor for Jasper County. She is survived by her son David Kunkel of Jasper; daughter-in-law Gloria Castillo of Houston; sister Ethel Mae Kopesky of Houston; and grandchildren Brianna Kunkel and Melissa Gail.
