Joyce Elaine Hanks

Joyce Elaine Hanks, 83, of Jasper passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 peacefully at her residence surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the Jasper Church of Christ with interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Jasper Church of Christ.

Joyce was born on September 1, 1942 in Texarkana, Arkansas to William & Sylvia Philyaw. She worked for Silsbee I.S.D. for 25 years as a paraprofessional. She was a devoted member of the Jasper Church of Christ for many years. On November 4, 1961, she married the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Hanks, at South Park Church of Christ in Beaumont, Texas. She loved spending time at the beach, looking for seashells, and watching the waves. Most importantly, she loved her family and cherished her time with them.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Hanks of Jasper; sons Robert Wayne Hanks of Spurger and Randy Kyle Hanks & wife Melinda of Bastrop; brother Harold Wayne Philyaw of Silsbee; grandchildren Wyatt Hanks and Whitney Elaine Hanks; as well as numerous cherished friends.
