Karen D. Keown

Karen Keown, 70, of Brookeland passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A Funeral Mass Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Raymond’s Mission Church in Brookeland, Texas.

Karen was born on September 15, 1956 in Kingsville, Texas to Gerald & Mary Hethcoat. A resident of Austin for 25 years, she retired from the State of Texas as an Administrative Assistant and began retirement at the lake in 2019. A member of St. Raymond’s Mission Church, she enjoyed feeding breakfast to the church as well as fishing and reading. She was also a volunteer at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in the Gift Shop.

She is survived by her son Clayton Keown & wife Melissa; granddaughter Ava Keown; brother Robert Hethcoat & wife Vicki; sisters Linda Estes & husband Tim and Lorrie Wallace & husband Tony; as well as sister-in-law Jamie Parker & husband Sam.
