Kenneth "Little Red" Hayes, 86, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper with interment to follow at West Oaks Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Kenneth was born on November 4, 1934 in Garden Valley to Frank &Minnie Hayes. A brick mason by trade, he worked in the Jasper area since 1975. Known as "Little Red" to many for his fiddle skills, he was honored at the Texas County Music Hall of Fame in San Marcos. He started playing the fiddle when he was 15-years old and went to work with Hank Thompson. Throughout his time he also played with Jim Reeves, Ray Price, George Jones and Mel Tillis. When he was 13, he went to a fiddling contest in Athens and there he met a little long-haired 12 year old girl, who would become his wife in 1955. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nina Hayes of Jasper, son Barry Hayes &wife Donna of Jasper; daughter Janice Anderson Burks of Jasper; grandchildren Aprl Wheeler &husband Christopher, Brandon Anderson &wife Felicia, Cathy Moye &husband Dustin, Bradly Anderson &wife Autumn and Lori Fair Viscardis &husband Shelby; as well as 14 great grandchildren.
