Larry "Hoppy" Hopkins, 85 of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at his residence. Private Celebration of Life Services were held, and a public Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
A native of Blakesburg, Iowa, Larry was born on September 8, 1934 to Frances &Clara Hopkins. He moved from Forsythe, Missouri in December of 2017 to Jasper, Texas. Owner of Hoppy's Machine Shop in Houston, he was a tool and die man. A charismatic salesman, he could sell anything to anyone, whether they needed it or not. He enjoyed fishing, making jewelry, shopping and having garage sales. He also served in the United States Army where his job was a meteorologist. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on July 15, 1994 in Caldwell, Texas, Kim Hopkins of Jasper; son Lee Hopkins of Waxahachie; daughter LeAnne Bennie &husband James of Dallas; sister Rose Myers of Jasper; as well as grandchildren Alan &Alaina. He is preceded in death by a son Larry Hopkins and a daughter Linda Owens.
