Leon Byerly, 77, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 peacefully in Jasper. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
Leon was born on June 18, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas to Alton & Willie Byerly. He grew up in Port Arthur and moved to Jasper in 1977. He worked as a Multi-craft Pipefitter for Texaco and served his country in the United States Army. He had a good work ethic and loved working on projects and helping family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on his property, and mowing the grass. He also loved keeping the TV on just checking on the daily news.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra Byerly of Jasper; sons Robert “Bob” Byerly of Jasper and Terry Teinert & wife Tina of Vidor; daughter Stacey Vansteenhouse of Jasper; sister Phyllis Ann Lopez & husband John of Nederland; grandchildren Bobby Byerly, Alton Teinert & wife Gabbie, Cameron Teinert, and McKenzie Teinert; great grandchildren Wesley Roy and Lila Marie.
