Lucy Keen

d. May 9, 2024

Lucy Marie Keen, 97, long-time resident of Jasper passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 9, 2024 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Shultz Funeral Home with a private burial at Allen Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Lucy was born on February 8, 1927 to Robert and Mabel Folsom in Center, Texas, she was the oldest of 5 siblings. They all remained close and worked to maintain connection with trips back and forth from West Texas, where 2 of them settled.  Lucy grew into a lover of nature, and as her health and weather allowed, she could most often be found “working” in her yard. She had a beautiful assortment of flowers and trees she cultivated through the years displaying her green thumb. Also, a talented seamstress, quilter, and artist, she blessed family and friends with her talents. She and her late husband L.D. Keen had many fishing, hunting, and traveling adventures during their 52 years together. They made a lot of memories and saw a lot of the country in their big blue RV. She was known and loved by many for her friendly disposition and tender heart. Until her health in recent years prevented it, she was a faithful member of Tanglewood Baptist Church and spoke often of her gratitude for God’s love and care.  Mom, Granny, Great-Granny, Aunt, and “Miss Lucy” will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children Kathy Cook and husband Larry of Atlanta; son Rodney Keen Sr. of Jasper; Grandchildren Michelle Bost and husband Mike of Natick, MA, Rodney Keen Jr. of Jasper, and Lindsey Meredith and husband Ryan of Kirbyville; great grandchildren Jessica, Caleb, Ethan, Cooper, Kendal, Tyson, Cooper, and Karsen; and sisters Bobbie Hood of Jasper and Joyce Trimble of Brownwood. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mabel Folsom, husband L.D. Keen, siblings John Folsom and Inez Ancel, daughter Beth Ann Keen, and grandson Mike Martinson Jr. Condolences can be posted at www.shultzfuneralhomeofjasper.com or on Facebook at Shultz Funeral Home &Crematory.
