Mary Berniece Clerc

Mary Berniece Clerc, 97, of Jasper passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at home with her family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Hancock Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Stromsburg, Nebraska, she was born on April 15, 1923 to Svante &Leila Stenbeck.  Moving from Denver, Colorado to Jasper in 1970, she worked at Mr. Q gas station for many years, but her most important career was being a dedicated mother and housewife. In her younger years, she was a Rosie the Riveter in California. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed to crochet, knit and paint. She also loved playing Bingo and slot machines. She was a member of Peachtree Baptist Church and loved her family. She is survived by her sons James Hejsek &wife Vickie of Security, Colorado, Clarence Clerc Jr. &wife Cheryl of Silsbee, and Allan Clerc &wife Mary Beth of Jasper; daughters Suzanne Morgan &husband Gerry of Jasper and Donna Armstrong of Jasper; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
