Michael Lee Carver, 77 of Brookeland, Texas passed peacefully at his home on June 25, 2026 surrounded by those he loved most. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday July 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
Michael was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 13, 1949 to Richard and Naomi Carver. He was a resident of Jasper County for 25 years after moving from Waco in 2001. Michael proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and remained proud of his honorable military service throughout his lifetime. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Power Plant Superintendent; his famous saying was “I never could hold a job, only for 42 years.” In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, riding his e-bike & motorcycle, hunting, fishing, camping, photography, flying his drone & purple airplane, along with singing in the church choir.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Suzanne Carver of Brookeland, Texas; son David Carver and wife Elena of Dennison, Texas; daughter Christy Rousseau and husband Rick of Valleyview, Texas.; stepdaughter Teresa Hall of Bourne, Mass; sisters Debbie Kagey and husband Ken of Idaho, Betsy O’Brian of Harrisburg, Illinois, and Patti Gregg; grandchildren, Hunter, Hope, Nicholas, Kaleb, Andrew, Dylan, and Jackson; great grandchildren, Hadley Rose, Jesse Jade, and Hendrick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Naomi Carver and his brother Rick Carver. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
