Michael Hudson

Michael Richard (Mike) Hudson, 73, was born on February 8, 1953, in Beaumont, Texas. He passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord, where he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Linda Jean Hudson. A Memorial service for Mike will be held on August 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church, located at 181 Milam Street, Hemphill, TX 75948. A reception will follow the service. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Chan Hudson; his beloved wife of 28 years, Linda Jean Hudson; his brother, Pat Hudson and his sister, Lorraine Rugg, along with several other cherished family members.

He is survived by his loving siblings: Karen Pettefer (Jerry); Tim Hudson (Marelina); Danny Hudson (Teresa); Sändra McKinley (Jim) and sister-in-law Linda Hudson. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him with love.

After attending the University of Houston, Mike began his career as a contractor with NASA. His work later took him to Washington, D.C. where he met the love of his life, Linda Jean. The two were married in 1989 and shared 28 wonderful years together until her passing. Mike continued a successful career in information technology while living in Virginia and Missouri before retiring to Hemphill, Texas, in 2018.

Mike embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed spending time camping, fishing, bowling and participating in Civil War reenactments. He loved playing bridge as well, treasuring not only the challenge of the game but also the lasting friendships. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and had a legendary appreciation for chocolate—never considering a dessert too rich, a candy bar too large, or a chocolate treat too unnecessary to enjoy. If chocolate was involved, Mike was willing to do the important work of making sure it didn’t go to waste. Mike also had a huge love for animals, especially his dog Sammy. More than a pet, Sammy was like a child to him and brought him years of companionship, joy and love.

A man of deep faith and service, Mike was an active member of First Methodist Church in Hemphill. He was also a dedicated Master Mason for more than 22 years, serving as past Master, and most recently Treasurer, of Littleton Fowler Lodge No. 305, A.F. & A.M., in Hemphill, Texas. His commitment to his church, his Masonic brothers, and his community reflected the generous spirit with which he lived his life.
