There will also be a reception for the family to greet friends on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Frank Ealand Hall at First Methodist Church.
Ralph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived a life of faith, service, and hard work. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sherry Nichols; his two sons, Ralph Lynn Nichols and Niles Voigt Nichols and his wife Heather; and his cherished grandchildren, Austin, Noah, and Ayden.
He is also survived by his brother, James Nichols; nephews Jerrod Nichols and wife Teri, Jason Nichols and wife Tracy, and Lawrence Prince; nieces Kristi Hanks and husband Randy, and Brandi Prince; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fenton and Evon Nichols; his brother Gerald Nichols; his sister Karen Nichols; and his brother-in-law Harry Voigt.
Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years before returning home to operate his own appliance repair business. His strong sense of duty and dedication to his community led him to attend the police academy, where he began his law enforcement career as a Sheriff’s Deputy. He later served as Constable for Precinct 2 for 20 years and also as Chief Deputy for three years, earning the respect and gratitude of those he served.
A faithful member of First Methodist Church in Jasper, Ralph was deeply involved in the church community, serving as Finance Chairman and as a member of the Disciples Sunday School Class.
Ralph’s hobbies reflected his love of the simple things in life — he enjoyed reading his Bible, spending time on his tractor with his dogs, ASAP and Little Bit, gardening, and fixing anything that needed repair around the house. His strong faith in the Lord guided every aspect of his life, and his kindness, integrity, and humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
