Ruby Dell Yarbrough Payne, 94, of Sam Rayburn passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home.
Ruby was born on July 18, 1926 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Nathan &Ida Yarbrough Sr. Ruby moved to Rayburn in 1984, she was a member of Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church, where she served many committees, chaired the Stained-Glass Window Committee, and was the official “Greeter”. She loved the game of golf; she even met her husband of 48 years on a golf course. She holds the Rayburn Country Lady’s lowest coarse record of 68. She also loved counted-cross stitch in her pass time. Her face may also be remembered from the Klothes Kloset, where she worked for 15 years. She is survived by her “girls” Alice Dawson, Liz Weaver, and Darlene Collins; Bob’s daughter Marguerite Robichaux &beloved Walter Hurley of Stratton, Maine; as well as a host of friends and church family. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” G. Payne, mother Ida Idell Murph Yarbrough, father Nathan Bert Yarbrough, Sr., brothers Walter Yarbrough, Roy Yarbrough, Edward Yarbrough, Earl Yarbrough, Joe Carl Yarbrough, and N.B. Yarbrough, Jr. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and administrator at Timbe Ridge Nursing &Rehabilitation, and for the wonderful nurses of Affinity Hospice that cared for her this past year.
