Ruth Carol Oates

Carol “Gram” Oates, 79, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. Ruth was born on May 12, 1946 to Warren and Edna Garrison. A resident of Jasper since 2020, she loved gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons Dee Ponder and wife Lisa of Brandon, Mississippi, Kevin Ponder and wife Karen of Waskom, Texas, and Scott Oates and wife Lisa of Cypress, Texas; daughter Brandi Sparks and husband Mark of Jasper, Texas; grandchildren Colten, Garret, Colby, and Cameron; great grandchildren Murphy, Porter and Tinley. She is preceded in death by her husband Ed Oates. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Shriners’ Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s.
