Francis Vinette  McDuffie, 100 years and 8 months old, of Jasper passed away August 24, 2021. Vinette moved to Jasper County from Spurger, Texas when she was five years old. Her family settled in the Little Hope community.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Jasper with interment to follow at Little Hope Cemetery.  The family will greet friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Vinette was born on December 17, 1920 to Benton and Owen Hicks Jordan and was one of six children. She was the first in her family to finish high school, graduating from Jasper High in 1939. She went to work until she married Louie W. McDuffie on November 1, 1941.

The first time Vinette left East Texas was when she followed Louie to San Francisco where he was stationed as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army/Air Force. After Louie was discharged, they moved to Kirbyville where he worked for the City. Louie and Vinette moved back to Jasper in 1951 when he went to work for the City of Jasper. Vinette began working at Due’s Minimax in 1957 and continued working there until her retirement.

Survivors include her children Terry McDuffie and wife, Janie of Irving, Texas, Wanda Hall of Rowlett, Texas, and Sandra Warrick and husband, Charles of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren Scott McDuffie and wife Tammie; Garrick McDuffie, Janna McDuffie, Lindsey Hall Thomas and husband Joshua, and Whitney Warrick; great grandchildren Dylan, Eleina, Lane, David, William, Anna and Sadie; and beloved sister Jeanne Williams of Jasper, Texas. Jim Dickerson of Jasper, Texas is her son adopted by love and Heidi Laswell, her granddaughter, also adopted by love.

Vinette is preceded in death by her husband, Louie and daughter, Charlotte and son-in-law David Hall.

Vinette was active in the Hope and Joy Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church Jasper, where she was a member since 1957.
