Wanda Eilene Herrington Caraway Merrill August 15, 1947 –August 12, 2025

Wanda Eilene Herrington Caraway Merrill, 77, a lifelong resident of Silsbee, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on August 12th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on August 15, 1947, in Alvin, Texas, to Darlene Biskamp and Erman Otis Herrington, Jr.

A devoted Christian and faithful servant, Wanda found great joy in her church family. For many years, she taught the singles class at Pinecrest Baptist Church, sharing her faith and encouragement with countless friends. She loved singing the old hymns, especially Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, and One Day at a Time, and she carried that joy of music throughout her life.

Wanda was a woman of many loves—among them were her church friends, afternoon coffee, playing games, spending time with her kids and grandkids, and peaceful days spent fishing. She took pride in keeping a warm and welcoming home, and she dedicated her life to raising her children with love, strength, and faith. Her kindness, humor, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Sonya Caraway Manibo and Brenda Caraway Busby and her husband, Dennis; her beloved grandchildren, whom she cherished as “maw maw”- Sophia Grace Zuniga and her husband, Emmanuel, Brendan Manibo, Olivia Manibo, Kadynce Royer, Dylan Busby and Cayla Mageors, and her husband Justin. Her sisters, Jean McCormick and Shirley Wilkinson and her husband Bill, her brothers, Tim Herrington and David Randall; and her sister-in-love, Rita Herrington with whom she shared a very special relationship. Wanda considered her a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Darlene Biskamp and Erman Otis Herrington, Jr, her Brother in law, James McCormick and her grandson Bryce Alex Manibo and many other dear loved ones.

Services will be at Pinecrest Baptist Church on August 16th. There will be a visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 PM and the memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church Single Adult Ministry. Pinecrest Baptist Church, 5660 FM 1122 Silsbee, TX 77656 in her memory.

Wanda’s life was a testament to faith, love, and perseverance. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
