William “Dick” Letney, 66, of Brookeland passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper at 1:00 p.m. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Townsend Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas.
Dick was born in Jasper, Texas on September 14, 1958 to Bogie &Doris Wood Letney. A life-long resident of Brookeland, he worked and retired from Gulf Welding Supply after 37 years of service. He loved to deer hunt and fish. He was even known to place and win numerous fishing tournaments. Mostly he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 10 years Janet Letney of Brookeland; son Josh White &wife Sam of Kirbyville; daughters Brandy Letney of Bon Wier and Ashley Stephens &husband Bruce of Bon Wier; brothers Beattle Letney &wife Lucy of Brookeland and Tom Dooley Greenwood &wife Cindy of Jasper; sisters Theresa Biscamp of Jasper, Evelyn Lee &husband Gerry of Brookeland, Stacy White &husband Bubba of Pineland, Catrina Rhame &husband Tim of Brookeland, and Angie Hopson &husband Kenny of Scrapping Valley; grandchildren Bree Whitley, Seth Letney, Llyod Fowler, Remington Fowler, Rahleigh Stephens, JJ White, Colton White, Mica White, Raelynn White, and Clayton White; as well as a great grandson Cash Letney. He is preceded in death by his parents Bogie Letney and Doris Wood and step-mother Elaine Letney; wife Laura Letney; and a brother Rod Letney.
